WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Important Wireless Joystick Rigging Information

The Yamaha Electronic Key Switch with key FOB (EKS) is required for wireless joystick installation. If you have a physical key with engine start/stop buttons, you will need to install a EKS kit.
Also required is the Yamaha Engine Control 2023 or newer that has the POWER button and ALL START button on it. If those two are not there, this wireless Joystick will not function.
If Your Boat Already Has a Yamaha Joystick + EKS
If your boat is already equipped with a Yamaha Joystick AND a EKS(electronic key switch), this kit includes nearly all the necessary components to install the wireless system. However, you will still need to purchase the following boat-specific/engine quantity rigging harnesses and parts (not included, as lengths vary by installation):

Note: If you are installing the wireless module behind the helm (in the same area as the DEC throttle/shift control and your existing 3-port Yamaha Command Link hub are), the short harness lengths listed above will typically work.
Additional Check: Please verify that your Yamaha 3-port hub has at least one free DEVICE port available. If all ports are occupied, you will also need the Add-A-Hub Kit: Link
If your boat does not have a Yamaha autopilot(AP) installed, you will need a Yamaha AP kit, plus a Boat Control Unit(BCU) that matches the number of engines installed, plus the Yamaha Wireless Joy stick kit. If you have a single engine with AP, the BCU you have is correct for a Wireless Remote kit. In all cases you will need the Yamaha EXS (electronic key switch) if you don't already have it. If you have a KEY FOB that you unlock the engine/system with, that is a EKS.
If your boat does have a Yamaha auto-pilot(AP) with multiple engines and NO joystick, you will need the Wireless Remote Kit PLUS a Boat Control Unit(BCU) that matches the number of engines you have and a EKS. You do not need a fixed mounted Joystick installed to install a Wireless Remote Joystick.

This new system literally puts boat control in the palm of the captain’s hand, allowing for more movement around the boat while remaining in complete control at all times.* The new Wireless Control System includes all Helm Master EX joystick functionality, autopilot control and MOB functions for captains and passengers. The Wireless Control System is available in single through quint configurations, and allows captains to make the most of their time on the water, transforming the boating experience with precision, automation and smart functionality.
SINGLE-HANDED JOYSTICK OPERATION Single-handed operation is possible thanks to the added fingertip button. The all-new Helm Master EX Wireless Control System gives captains the advantage of maintaining full Joystick boat control while also freeing up one hand for tossing lines or adjusting fenders.
HAND-HELD HELM MASTER EX DISPLAY With the new Wireless Control System, boat captains can monitor depth, heading and speed all in the palm of their hands. This is especially handy underway when monitoring course while using the autopilot functions.
MOB ALERTS YAMAHA MARINE RIGGING SYSTEMS Included with this handheld control system is an integrated MOB system. A passenger or captain falling overboard will trigger the boat to decelerate to a stop in idle or immediately turn off the engines depending on the situation. The system includes one Captain’s Tag and one passenger Tag. The system will support up to eight MOB Tags and they come with a wristband and lanyard hooks so you can keep track of the entire crew and pets too. Tags are powered by button-cell batteries.
AUTOPILOT FUNCTIONALITY With access to the Helm Master EX Autopilot functionality, the new Wireless Control System allows captains to set heading and course, making adjustments on the fly as needed. Sit back at the helm and make fine adjustments.
HELM MASTER EX LEVEL 4 JOYSTICK FUNCTIONALITY For fishermen, the Wireless Controller will be an essential piece of gear. StayPoint®, FishPoint®, and DriftPoint® will be at your fingers whether you are at the bow on lookout, watching from the f lybridge, or in the middle of the action at the stern. Simply select the function on the controller and press go. The fine-tuning adjustments you are accustomed to with the fixed Joystick are also right in your hand.
WINDLASS OR OTHER ACCESSORY INTEGRATION During anchoring, captains can operate the windlass and engine controls from the Wireless Control System. Anchoring or pulling up to a crowded sandbar has never been easier.
IT FLOATS! YAMAHA MARINE RIGGING SYSTEMS The new Wireless Control System is buoyant. That means, should it fall overboard, it will be easy to retrieve.
JOYSTICK HOLD FUNCTION This new Wireless Control System also supports the new Joystick Hold function of Helm Master EX. Imagine cruise control in a no wake zone. Stow the lines and fenders while underway in the canal or channel after departing the dock.
The HMEX wireless controller can be added to any HMEX that is updated to the newest HMEX software version. The Transceiver mounts below the helm and the Cradle mounts in any convenient space for charging.
