Home > How To Find Your Engines Parts Page

In order to find the proper parts for your motor you need to know your model number and your serial number/Primary ID. Your motor model identification is located on the motor, usually near the bracket on the port side. The example to the left is a T9.9. The model code is T9.9XEHB and the serial number (or PID) is 6AVK-X-1027960. Some older models will show the serial number prefix (in this case the 6AVK) listed before the motor model code. It is important to record this information elsewhere as well because these stickers will eventually fade and may come off all together.

Yamaha uses the model coding to identifying specifics on the motor. We will use the newer T9.9 model coding for the first example.

T = High Thrust
9.9 = Engine Horsepower
X = Shaft Length (25")
E = Starting Method and Tilt Method (Electric Start Only)
H = Control Method (Tiller Handle)
B = Generation (2nd Change of Motor)

Earlier models were coded slightly different. A 2005 T9.9, as an example, would be coded T9.9EXHD.

T = High Thrust
9.9 = Engine Horsepower
E = Starting Tilt Method (Manual Tilt with Electric Start)
X = Shaft Length (25")
H = Control Method (Tiller Handle)
D = Model Year (2005)

In 2005 Yamaha changed how they model code motors. In the example above, the final letter represented the year. Yamaha no longer "model years" their motors and has dropped this in model coding. For models produced starting April of 2005 you will need your serial number to be sure that you are purchasing the correct parts.

To find parts on the website you must first know your engine model information. Parts may be found on the site by searching by part number, finding your motors basic maintenance parts page, or by looking through the diagrams. The basic maintenance parts pages are found by hovering over the "Parts" tab and choosing either "2-Stroke" parts or "4-Stroke" parts, and then continue through the category prompts to find your motor model. The parts diagrams are also located under the "Parts" tab. Follow the drop down menu options to find your motor model or use the quick parts search and the model and a description of the part you are looking for.
